With so many sights and activities to see in Canada's third largest city, planning a vacation in Vancouver can be overwhelming. There are so many great things in Vancouver where you can ski in the morning and lie on the beach in the afternoon. No trip to Vancouver's most popular tourist destination would be complete without a look at some of the best things to do around Vancouver.

When visiting Vancouver Island in autumn, the weather is usually nice and you can see the fall foliage in Butchart Gardens. You can visit the Great Canadian Beer Festival and even all year round, but if you visit it, you should visit it at least once or twice a year, and preferably every year.

During the summer months, Vancouver Island has many festivals and activities, so it is definitely a fun time to visit. All in all, Vancouver is a beautiful place to explore at any time of the year, but you can really try anything from June to September.

Sunset Beach in the West End offers cycling, hiking and rollerblading trails to the beach, leading to one of the city's most popular tourist attractions, the Vancouver Aquarium. If you enter a peninsula northwest of the city center, you can easily walk from here to the center. This green space offers a great vantage point from which to take the best shots of Vancouver, as well as a good view of the downtown Vancouver skyline.

The Seawall stretches across Stanley Park and you can try a variety of activities, from horse-drawn sleigh rides to boat rides, kayaking and even horse riding. Kayaks are also a great way to get around the watery part of downtown Vancouver and can be rented for as little as $5 a day or for a full day.

If you are travelling between Vancouver Island and Vancouver, you can take the ferry from Tsawwassen to Dukes Bay and then take it back to Vancouver, where you depart from Port Coquitlam Terminal.

If you are wondering about a trip to Whistler, the Sea-to-Sky Gondola is worth a visit, especially if you are travelling from Vancouver Island.
